HUNTING COUNTRIES IN THE UKThere are some 200 packs of Foxhounds covering much of the UK. Those
in the North are shown on this page. Those in the South are shown in the
next page. In the most hilly and mountainous
areas there are several packs hunted on foot; particularly in the Lake
District and in North Wales. Several packs are at least 200 years old.
Many are owned by a committee, usually with very strong representation
of local farmers. It is impractical to hunt a pack of hounds in the fringes
of urban areas or near motorways and mainline railways. Hunts in the North West of the UK
